Astro Bot truly brought me out of my 2024 Q4 gaming slump. I rediscovered the joy of platforming rhythms, each planet a wrapped treat to savour, much like an advent calendar’s window. Nostalgia jolted me with each new Bot rescued, as iconic IP heroes (and cats!) joined my crew. I adored the attention to detail, from astro-animals to physical objects galore to touchy touch touch. It was simply joyful. Could only one cocktail embody it all? By no means, but I did try.
After (in)digesting many flavours inspired by Astro Bot’s metaverse, I landed on this concept:
Sugar and sunshine: I clung to the memory of first landing on Creamy Canyon, plowing through icing sugar and scattering candy piles, all with the meltingly satisfying haptic feedback. This was destined to be a sweet cocktail with sprinkles for play. Astro let lots of digital sunshine into my living room (during the so-called Neverending November here), so I floated a more tropical flavour idea too. Ended up with a childlike joy in an adult’s cup. Easy to learn, difficult to master. Just like some of those Challenge levels…
Nothin’ but the blues: Inspired by Astro’s classic look, I layered the cocktail in blue & white by mixing ingredients of varied densities. It’s not exactly in the brand’s blue hue, but just pouring a shot of blue curaçao and [Leave Planet] seemed lazy. But Astro’s not lazy, no sir. And I’m not a completionist until I overthink this up to 7 ingredients, at least.
So set a course for BOO-Z Galaxy and let’s do this run!
Cocktail Ingredients:
22 ml (¾ oz) White Rum
22 ml (¾ oz) Creme de Cacao
22 ml (¾ oz) Blue Curaçao
30 ml (1 oz) Coconut Milk
10 ml (⅓ oz) Lime Juice
⅓ barspoon Vanilla Paste
1 Egg White
Float: 10 ml (⅓ oz) Blue Curaçao
Garnish: Sprinkles, Sweets, etc.
Cocktail Instructions:
- Gather all the 300+ Bots to cheer you on!
- Pre-chill a round cocktail glass in the freezer.
- Pour all the cocktail ingredients into a Boston shaker.
- No ice just yet! Seal and dry shake first for ±15 seconds to froth it up.
- Now add some larger ice cubes. Seal and shake again until frosty. Ask 10 Bots to assist.
- Strain into the chilled cocktail glass, using a Hawthorne strainer.
- Let the foam settle into a fluffy layer on top. Don’t let any Bots disturb it.
- Hold a barspoon upside down at the glass’ edge, its tip just below the whole foam. Pour the blue curaçao slooowly over the spoon’s back. Its density will bring it all the way down.
- Get playful with sprinkles and other small
rigidbodiessweets. - (Optional) Speedrun to your sofa without spilling the drink. Spin, dash, the works.
- (Main) Enjoy the sugar rush while it’s still creamy cold.
